Dead Sea

People suffering from psoriasis and other skin conditions can combine a holiday with treatment for their condition at Israel's Dead Sea.

With its natural therapeutic conditions, the Dead Sea has been used as healing centre for many years as its seawater contains a higher than usual amount of minerals and hot springs offer enriched minerals and sulphur.

Over recent years, several European countries including Germany, Denmark and Norway have conducted in-depth research into how effective treatment for psoriasis is at the Dead sea compared with local artificial treatment.

The Swiss Psoriasis Association found that treatment is better at the Dead Sea and also more cost effective for its health service while research on 64 German people suffering from psoriasis found that treatment gave results lasting for six months.

The positive results for people in these countries has meant that there is subsidised travel to the Dead Sea for residents in these countries.

A new website offering advice and information on using the Dead Sea for treatment has also just launched.
